Ceiling Paint Selection and Application Techniques

Ceiling painting is a more challenging task both physically and technically compared to wall painting. The correct choice of product and technique determines the result.

Why is Ceiling Paint Different?

Standard interior paint can be used on ceilings as well; however, specialized ceiling paints offer certain advantages: Matte finish: Surface imperfections and irregularities are less noticeable on a matte finish. Glossy or semi-gloss finishes emphasize defects. Splatter resistance: Paints formulated for ceilings splatter less during application. Coverage: Ceiling paints typically have high opacity — satisfactory results can be achieved in a single coat.

Material Selection

The most suitable tool for ceilings: Long-handled roller (minimum 40 cm width). Short-pile roller (5–7 mm) is suitable for smooth surfaces, long-pile (12–15 mm) for textured ceiling surfaces. Use a brush for edges and corners.

Application Procedure

1. Cover walls and furniture (ceiling paint will definitely drip). 2. Cut in the edges with a brush. 3. Start from the center with the roller, progressing in the direction of window light. 4. After the first coat dries (minimum 4 hours), apply the second coat in perpendicular direction.

Preventing Yellowing
